Japan
April 10 - 17, 2004
Seven CCID colleges delegated their four Presidents, four Senior Academic Administrators and a Trustee to visit the land of cherry blossoms, samurai and the famous Fuji Mountain – the country of Japan. The objective of this visit was to learn about the present-day post-secondary technical education in Japan as well as observe historical linkages, and the cultural and social aspects of the modern Japanese society.

Our group was graciously hosted by the CCID member in Japan - the Jikei Group. Under the auspices of Dr. Kunihiko Ukifune, the Jikei CEO, and Mr. Tatsuo Iwahara, Director of International Affairs at Jikei, and their colleagues, the program was brimming with professional and cultural exposure. During their 7-day visit, the U.S. college representatives met students and faculty at 13 Jikei colleges. They were also invited to be part of the Entrance Ceremony at an International Forum.

From Tokyo through Osaka, Kyoto and Kobe, our group seen the best of the cultural and historical sites of Japan. They were also hosted to a couple of special dinners offering the traditional Japanese cuisine.

Despite the brief time the college delegates had in Japan, they were able to admire the beauty of cherry blossoms in their peak, soak in the golden colors of the Buddha temples, and register the sounds of busy Tokyo streets. Thank you, Jikei Group, for an excellent program and experience!
